Joining Norfolk Premier Golf as Head PGA Professional in April 2019, Alex’s golf journey started as a Junior at Eaton Golf Club where he gained his first handicap. Within 2 years he was winning trophies at club level and going on to represent different clubs in Myhill and Cullington teams. He was always a fixture in the Norfolk golf teams, even captaining the Norfolk County Juniors for his final two years.
Alex turned professional in 2008 after earning a Tour Card on the Europro Tour and spent 3 years learning and adapting to the professional game. Playing took a sideline for 3 years as Alex studied towards gaining a degree in golf leading on to his first professional job at Barnham Broom.
The degree now complete, playing golf was back on the cards. Some top performances saw him win 3 regional events in a row coupled with a top 10 finish on the Europro Tour.
Unfortunately, injury put a halt to playing golf full time, which enabled his coaching career to flourish, where he has developed some top players from beginners to Professionals.
In 2018 Alex became the head coach of the Norfolk County Junior teams, developing a program where golfers could improve and hone skills without having to change swings.
Now joining the team at Norfolk Premier Golf Alex is excited to continue his development coaching golfers of all different levels.
“The team at NPG have been very accommodating and want to help me continue my development and build coaching and club fitting at the center”.
I was introduced to golf at the age of 7 and was a member at Kings Lynn. I represented the County at Junior and Senior level before turning Pro at the age of 20. After becoming a fully qualified member of the P.G.A., and in doing so earning a Titleist scholarship, I moved from being assistant pro at Kings Lynn to Head pro at Middleton Hall. 15 years ago I moved to Norwich and Glen Lodge Bawburgh taking the role as teaching professional. I continued playing and won the Norfolk P.G.A. Order of Merit in 2003 as well as numerous pro-ams and individual events.
I joined Norfolk Premier Golf in May 2016.
Having taught for over 25 years in Norfolk I have developed a simple way of teaching and have coached all golfers regardless of ability, age or gender. I have worked with top coaches such as Denis Pugh and continued to further my knowledge of up to date philosophies by studying many of the world’s top coaches and mentors, at present I’m a class AA member of the P.G.A. I get a real buzz from helping all levels of golfer and more importantly, achieve their goals with simple lessons and practice plans as well as on course management skills.
With the up to date facilities at Norfolk Premier Golf and a straight forward style of teaching, I can make anyone’s lesson a fun and rewarding experience.
